Kilroot Power Station

B. Small Contracts were employed by break, excavate and remove concrete to allow for the installation of 2 new turbines in the turbine hall warehouse at Kilroot Power Station. The excavation required was 18m x 36m x 7m deep and what was existing was solid concrete. a 54-tonne excavator and hammer attachment owned by B. Small Contracts was used to break out the concrete and 2nr 3ot excavators were used to excavate.

Upon completion of the excavations, the removal of gantries and upper decks was required to allow for the installation of the chimneys. B. Small Contracts operatives worked nights and weekends to remove all that was required before works began on the roof. A B. Small Contracts owned Brokk robotic breaker was used to break through the roof to allow for the chimneys to be installed.
